Mon, 19 Sep 05
AEIOU Board Member, Mike Allen and friend and colleague Rob Elliot had no idea they could raise $40,000 for AEIOU when they set out to embark on hiking the gruelling 96km Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea.
Together they raised over $21,000 until Anglo Coal Australia, where the two senior executives work professionally, agreed to raise the sponsorship, bringing their total to $40,000.
Mike, who celebrated his 50th birthday this year, became involved in AEIOU primarily through his daughter Rebecca who is a full-time teacher at the charity's education centre in Moorooka and registered psychologist in children"s autism.
"It?s a goal I?ve always wanted to accomplish and to raise funds for AEIOU made it all the more worthwhile,? Mike said.
