An important message to all Queensland disability service providers from NDIS Queensland Campaign Committee Chairman and Endeavour Foundation CEO,  David Barbagallo

People with a disability and I need you to go to the Every Australian Counts website http://everyaustraliancounts.com.au/ and join the campaign for an NDIS. If we succeed in establishing the NDIS then every Australian with a disability and their families will benefit in some way and after all that’s why our organisations exist.   

If you already have done this – great – can you then please sign up someone else? Better still see if you can get 2 others. Could I also suggest you email all your staff, volunteers and families and ask them to do the same? 

And put a story in your next newsletter about how important this is so ageing parents can get some peace of mind at the end of their lives. So people with a disability can get the support they are entitled to.

Get involved. This is too important to leave to someone else.

So far we only have 4,000 from Queensland signed up. NSW has over 9,000. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we could match their efforts here in Queensland in the spirit of State of Origin?

Despite what the Productivity Commission Draft Report has said about the system being underfunded, broken and not serving the interests of people with a disability, the NDIS will NOT just happen. We will have to fight for the funding so our clients will have more choice, greater independence and richer lives.

If by joining the campaign each of us can contribute our voices to this critically urgent outcome, then we may just have done something very important today indeed.
