Child care benefits
Families accessing our mainstream childcare and kindergarten program may be eligible for a range of benefits to assist with the costs of child care in a registered service, including Child Care Benefit (CCB), Child Care Rebate (CCR) and Jobs, Education and Training (JET) child care fee assistance.
These funding packages are administered by the Australian Government. The value (or percentage) of CCB is calculated by the Family Assistance Office (FAO) based on the total household income and the number of children in care. The Child Care Rebate (CCR) is not income tested.
JET fee assistance assists parents undergoing training, study, job search or rehabilitation to help them enter or re-enter the workforce.
You may be eligible for JET Child Care Fee Assistance if you receive:
- Farm Household Allowance
- Parenting Payment
- Partner Allowance
- Widow Allowance
- Carer Payment
- Widow B Pension
- ABSTUDY (means tested)
- Newstart Allowance
- Youth Allowance (as a job seeker)
- Special Benefit (where you would qualify for Parenting Payment or Newstart Allowance but you do not meet residency requirements)
Please note, The Commonwealth Government is introduced measures to increase immunisation rates across the national community. As a result, from 1 January 2016, conscientious objection to vaccines was removed as an exemption category, and children who are not immunised are unable to receive the Child Care Benefit, and Child Care Rebate, as well as the Family Tax Benefit Part A end of year supplement payments.
AEIOU advises that if your child is not immunised for medically approved reasons this new policy will not apply.
For information on any of these benefits, contact the FAO on 13 61 51 or visit www.humanservices.gov.au/families.
