AEIOU Regional Autism Program

AEIOU Regional Autism Program

Children with autism experience the world differently and require a unique level of care and teaching support to help them reach their maximum potential.

Families living in rural communities will have access to specialist autism early intervention support through the AEIOU Foundation’s AEIOU Regional Autism Program starting in August 2010.

The program pilot, sponsored by Xstrata Coal and Tim Fairfax Family Foundation is located in Emerald, Central Queensland and is evolving quickly.

Children aged 2.5 to 5 years of age diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder are eligible for the program.

Using the existing resources available to Goodstart Childcare  centres, AEIOU’s trans-disciplinary team including educators, speech pathologists and psychologists will work together with Goodstart carers to deliver an inclusive early intervention model.

To find out more about the program contact Dr Sperry on 0418 790 277 or laurie.sperry@aeiou.org.au
