New playground a hit with children

AEIOU Moorooka Centre boasts a new playground thanks to the generous donation of Frank Zullo and Dene Crocker of "Playground 2 Pty Ltd" as well as the Newman Foundation who last year provided AEIOU with a $9000 grant for the new surface of the area.

The playground was installed during the Christmas holidays and is playing a vital role in developing social skills.

As well as providing physical activity, playground equipment gives the children the opportunity to practice waiting and taking turns.

Teachers at the centre have already seen the benefits of the equipment.

Program Coordinator and Occupational Therapist Simon Wright said it was an excellent educational tool.

?It's a great way for the children to practise their communication skills as they have to ask for help to get onto the equipment, and it"s also helping their motor skills,he said.
