Thu, 9 Feb 06
Class is back at AEIOU Moorooka and the children have settled well into the program.
Program Coordinator Jacinta Costello said the teachers were all delighted with the transition of the 11 children returning from 2005 and welcome six children starting this year.
"The children who were in the program last year have enjoyed coming back and have settled in nicely, she said.
"They have been good role models for the new children and have helped them settle in well.
Having the older children has been beneficial - it has turned out nicely.
AEIOU's early intervention program, strengthened by its flexibility and adaptability, has benefited from the experience of the last 12 months.
The children are responding well to the consistency of the program and the visual support they are provided with, Ms Costello said.
The centre's team has expanded this year taking on two more staff.
Narelle Geyer has joined as an early education teacher, bringing eight years experience to the team. She is currently studying for a master's degree in special education.
Rachel Salmon, who completed a student placement with AEIOU in 2005, has joined the staff after graduating with a Bachelor of Early Childhood.
Both are excited to be part a program that is unique and constantly growing and evolving and are a welcome addition to the team, Ms Costello said.
