A special day under the Jacaranda's
Wed, 27 Oct 10
White table cloths, floral decorations, not a cloud in sight and all the sounds and scents of Spring set the scene for a beautiful day out for the ladies (and some gentlemen) lunching at Toowoomba's Gips restaurant in support of the AEIOU Foundation on Friday 22nd October 2010.
The day was sensational, raising approximately $4,000 which will provide one Lyn Wright Memorial Fund scholarship position for a child to attend the AEIOU program.
Toowoomba mother, Lisa Driessen gave an emotive speech about her son Issac who attended AEIOU in Toowoomba and her experience with autism and early intervention; Isaac has recently transitioned to Concordia mainstream school, a story that left not a dry eye in the house.
Marita Ramia and guests donned the best hats and headwear in town with the most HAT-HASTIC prize awarded to Mary Wagner for her pink and floral hat embodying true Spring spirit! Mary walked away with one of Rae Copeland's famous creations!
With many prizes to give away, guests were dressed to impress as the judges had a tough time choosing winners. Jillian Smith, Pat Davey, Sarah Wielandt, Malia Wilson were among best dressed and Merle Bradford won most appropriate hand bag.
The scrumptious canapes, fine wine, music and great company had guests in a generous mode to support a good cause. All funds have contributed to the AEIOU Foundation's Lynn Wright Memorial Fund to offer financial support to families who require assistance in attending the AEIOU program.
